Libraries hither and yon

It used to be called Red Square--all that brick--before they added the grass and flowering trees and erected a bell tower in the middle. View from the second floor of the Library in late April at Suffolk Community College in Selden.

Entrance to the Huntington Library, Ammerman Campus. Typical 1960s architecture.

The reference collection (the non-cyber part)

The view from the reference desk at Ammerman Library. Students coming in the front door can't miss us. On the left is the circulation department.

The computer lab, before they rearranged it

Oops, this is actually the Emma Clark Library

From The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Our visit to the Met last September was so rich in images I never posted all the pictures I took. Now in dreary February I want to look at things that are not snow-related. How about you?

Snow and what can you do? Chicken stew

This is the Winter of the Chicken Stew. I started this one a week ago (chicken, onion, celery, carrots, new potatoes). The second day, after tasting a bowlful--bland--I added things (garlic, cooked rotelli, more celery, tomato sauce, Mrs. Dash) and simmered it. Hmm, some improvement. Added water, cooked it some more and had a bowl. Third day added more garlic, onion, carrots, celery, tomato sauce, drop of olive oil, cherry tomatoes, and removed potatoes. Next maybe a few raisins.
I love to tinker in the kitchen.

Feeder, continued

Chickadees are smart. They found the upper restaurants.

Song sparrow

Piggy sparrow

He won't let the juncos approach even though the feeder has 5 more openings. I put this up yesterday just in time for the blizzard.

Here comes the bluejay, speaking of pigs

They know something

I removed a rock from these an hour ago. Already they are straightening up. Snow is predicted for tonight.

Are they waving? Hi!

And these are Spanish Bluebells

And these are daffodils, of course
