Incredible fabric

This beautiful woven silk fabric is unique in the world. It was made from the silk from more than one million golden orb spiders in Madagascar. We saw it today at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC.

I couldn't stop looking at it. Mesmerizing. The rich golden color is natural. Here is some more information about the exhibit of Spider silk.
If you watch the video you can get a better idea of the lustrous color and texture of the silk. It's an awe-inspiring object.

Always in the past Orb Weavers have only induced a case of the willies in me, I will now look at them with more appreciative eyes.

I was glad there were no live spiders there, only a picture.
