Manny the praying mantis
Never thought I'd have an insect for a pet. Manny has been hanging around the garden for at least a week. Beautiful green color underneath. Fifth picture is from today, the others from last Saturday. When the camera approaches he turns his head as if to say hello.

Sibling rivalry among beans?
A healthy seedling suddenly collapsed. The other 12 seeds did not sprout. Is there a substance emitted by the first sprouters that prevents the others from emerging? Only 4 left now.

Rose garden, Southampton
A must-do pilgrimmage in late June, this wonderful rose garden right next to the public library in Southampton. Words fail me -- the variety, the perfect condition, the tasteful arrangement. A great and unique gift to the public. 250 rose bushes. You could wear out your camera here.
