This reminds me of a special Thanksgiving luncheon that we had at work for several years. It was called the "Wild Beast Feast" and it was all the rage.
People cooked up dishes with sea food, salmon from the west coast, deer, wild hog, elk. One year I was offered a chunk of legally caught alligator meat from a hunter along the TX coast - I knew that I wasn't going to cook it so I was thinking to turn the offer down - when I mentioned it at work, one of my co-workers wanted to cook it and so I went ahead and got it. They cooked it up - I tasted it but didn't think it was anything special - it was the hit of that year's feast.
(( laughing )) Good one!! I don't know - I wasn't interested enough to ask - I really wasn't into this wild game food as much as the others seemed to be. I forgot to add the wild birds included in this festival - poor birds like geese, quail, wild turkeys ...
I only tasted a little bite of it all out of courtesy for all their various efforts - I focused on the various salads and desserts - which were very good!
Oh boy, there she goose! With new and strange foods you have to just peccary sometimes. Now with squirrel you have to beaverry careful and civet-- too lumpy otherwise. And serve it with moostard. Do you hare me?

Did they cook it in a croc pot?

Did you get your pound of ground chuck?
I'll stick with ground chuck as well. Hold the wild meats. Not for me.
Oh, I didn't go in. Was heading for the seafood store next door.
I agree with you, Lana. Had some ground buffalo once (cooked). It was OK but a bit dry.
My stomach quails at the thought of imbibing wild beasties. I'd probably yak it up, which would be rather boarish behavior.

There they go with the funny business again!!! I'm too sick to keep up.. See you kids later, I have to get ready for work...slowly
Yes, I guess I shouldn't be afraid of trying gnu things....
(moostard ~Ha!)
Oh dear, I just realized the full possibilities of moostard. I was thinking of the moos part!
I have you know that my moos aren't b'tards - they are purebred registered moos!!
And planned for with the blessings of their owners in registered bliss ....
I didn't go any further than the "moos" part of moostard, it gave me the giggles.
I imagined myself asking you quite gravely to "Please pass the moostard."
Ha!
But I will not be present at that table if the "a" is a "u".
Croc pot...
Got a new case of giggles happening.
Pardon me...
These blissful owners you know...do they have moose? That's what I was reefering to, mooses.
A gnu case? Do gnus have shells? Are they hard to crack like lobsters? Do you cook them in muh elk?
GROAN!!!!! [giggle]
Uohhh, so you ARE reading my blog, Oppie.
Wouldn't miss it!!!! [laughing]
