Like my wheels?

This is the rental car they gave me to drive this week while my car is being repaired in the body shop.* It's a 2010 Hyundai Elantra, quite nice. Of course, wouldn't you know it, as I picked it up and was driving it for the first time yesterday we had a freak snowstorm! which soon ended, thank goodness.

*I was rear-ended by a flatbed truck on 3/14. No damage to me, but my car ... well, I'll show before and after pictures next week.

Sorry to hear about your accident, glad you were not hurt! I am not in the position to buy a new car right now, but I really am considering a hyundai, the bigger one, my nissan is a great car and I hope to keep it a couple more years.

Can't believe you got that snow! We didn't get hardly anything

Thanks, Kristen. It was quite an unpleasant experience to be rear-ended by a big truck, but all parties (repair shop, State Farm guy, friends) were very nice to me and my car looks great now, though the fresh paint smell hurts my sinuses.

The Hyundai Elantra was interesting to drive. As a new car it had lots of pep.[ and gadgets. I enjoyed the CD player, which my car lacks. One day I just drove around playing all my CDs. Then it occured to me I could sit in a parking lot and listen without using gas! (3.83/gal) The brakes were mushier than my Prizm/Corolla. Steering seemed to take more effort and the gearshift seemed klutsy. I like my car better even with its 195,000 miles. Guess I'll keep it another few years.
