HI - no I hadn't come across this piece of news. Thanks for calling my attention to it. I'm not surprised to see that the whole area could legally be made "out of bounds".
What bothers me more than the people that stayed out there on the peninsular is all the animals - all the wild life and hundreds of cattle in the pastures over there - all drowned and their bodies either floating in Galveston Bay or snagged out in the salt marshes.
I have shivers thinking about what could have happened with the hurricane Alica in 1983 when I was caught out there. I was so lucky then .... Fortunate for me and my good neighbors that I just thought the world of - we both sold our properties and moved away from there - me in 2002, my neighbors in 2004.

Did you see the video? It showed cattle being driven through the water, so some survived.
