(( laughing )) I have a cat that will persistantly hassle me until I let him out! Simon sure captured his cat's antics!!!

Great videos!!

Yep, those are the cat moves for sure. Except for throwing things at glass doors and using baseball bats to wake me up in the morning. I may only be here to serve them but I do draw the line at some thing! [laughing]

I could just feel the claws on my leg when the cat was kneading on Simon. Mine used to do that...so painful. One of my cats used to lie on the warm TV and let his tail hang down and cover the screen so I couldn't watch the show.

I went to watch the videos again - that guy really captured the essence of persistant putty-tat!

Priscilla - I can just see your cat's tail draped down in front of the screen - by any chsnce was your cat Persian with a big fuzzy tail?

Even as a non cat owner I appreciate these videos...very funny :)

He was a sealpoint Siamese with the ego of a Persian. I have a photo of that somewhere.
P.S. If you were buying a scanner which brand would you buy?

Hi Priscilla - I'm not sure if you're asking Cheryl or me but I'll attempt an answer.

There are several good brands on the market but the more important thing is to match the scanner not only to the details of your computer but also to what you really need.

By this I mean on your computer, know what operating system you have, how much free disk space you have and do you have USB ports or not. Compare this to the requirements of the scanner.

Then decide what features on the scanner you need: do you want a simple scanner only -or- a combo with printer/scanner -or- a combo printer/scanner/fax ....

I have 2 scanners - both happen to be HP's but not because I was specifically looking for HP's.

The 1st one is 10 years old, a simple scanner and connects to an old windows 98 system via the printer port.

The other one is about a year old, connects to windows XP via a USB port and is a combo printer/scanner/fax - I've only used the fax once.

Another thing to consider if there is a printer aboard: look for a printer whose ink cartridges are separate cartridges rather than a combo cartridge. It is cheaper to replace a single red ink cartridge if it runs out of ink than it is to replace a complete combo cartridge if only the red ink runs out.

Hope this helps .....

Thanks, Biddie, for going into it so thoroughly.
My scanning needs are simple; I just want to make digital copies of old photos and perhaps a few documents(genealogy)that are irreplacable and too long to copy. I don't have a printer and for the moment don't want to get into that (cartridges are so expensive). I don't need a fax capability. I found that Epson and Canon scanners got the best reviews. I was looking at the Canon CS8800F on Amazon last week. It was 180.99 with free shipping. I just checked again and the price is now 173.47 with free shipping! Perhaps I should wait a little longer! This computer has Windows XP with 2 USB ports so I think it would be compatible.

I went out to Amazon to look at the scanner - it looks like a really nice one. If my old flatbed scanner had cratered, I would certainly get it for myself. I hadn't come across Amazon's little game before on hiding the price reduction like they did - interesting strategy. I checked the price on Office Depot - they were listing the scanner at the original $199.99 price without any hint of discount.

With Amazon's free shipping, I think that it is a really good deal.

On another subject, typing all the 999's in the price above reminded me of the price of gas that I saw today -- $1.999 - amazing!! Makes you wonder about the sympathetic "dancing" between the speculators and the oil companies ....

Two dollar gas, wow. I paid 2.57 on Monday and thought that was good.

Re: $2.00 gas...I finally ventured forth to town today & was shocked to see gas at $2.00...thought I fell into the twilight zone for a minute...

I bought gas yesterday at $1.82.9
If things keep going it will be in the low $1.70's before Thanksgiving.

I paid 2.39 yesterday and thought that was good, but when I hear of 1.82 I drool. (not literally)

My gas place is 2.29 today, down ten cents in 3 days.
