The Lobby

The lobby of the Empire State Building is beautiful and imposing. One stands and stares at the Art Deco magnificence. (Sorry, pix are blurry)

To be photographed there somehow enhances one's identity or feeling of importance. There is so little grandeur of surroundings in our daily lives.

Even the floors are beautiful.

Some of the shops on the first floor

This floor was flat of course

An elevator

A peek into one of the elevators. Look at those walls.
(To be continued)

I have been there long ago as child, and don't remember much, so it's like seeing it all for the first time. Glad you posted this up :)

The elevator walls made of marble or granite ~ Wow!!! Just think of that immense weight hurtling back and forth countless times every day!

It would be rare to find new buildings being built today with that elaborate richness.

Did sounds sort of echo about with all the hard-surfaced walls?

Didn't notice echoes, B. There were lots of people around to soak up sound waves.

One forgets that there are hundreds of offices in the building on floors 1 through 79. There's a good pizza place right in the building, Rosa's Pizza, where we had lunch. It is kosher so half the customers were wearing skullcaps. I guess they come from all around the midtown area for that scrumptious pizza. They pride themselves on quick service, fun to watch.

Now I have to go get the DVD "Sleepless in Seattle" from the library and watch it again.
