New bird species discovered

How exciting that a previously unknown bird has been found and that it looks so bizarre! This is the Laotian Bare-faced Bulbul (see article and another article) "Researchers found the new species in forests growing on the sides of tower-like limestone structures called karsts."
How many other species are there out there that we know nothing of? Intriging thought.

I read that today too, interesting!

Before I read the article I would have guessed a carrion eater due to the bald head, how interesting that it's a songbird!

Yes, there doesn't seem to be any use for a bald head in a singing bird. I love the fact that there are still mysteries to be unraveled.

Maybe they eat messy fruit? Same principle, but different food.

Maureen was telling me about whales that have bred with other types of whales...amazing how Nature always finds a way to combat stressors, such as population deprivation from whale hunting.

Is that why we have bald-headed men, I wonder?

Speaking of whales and sea creatures, did you hear about that albino dolphin that has been sighted?

That'a like in TX - the red wolf has been hunted to almost extinction - they are now interbreeding with the coyotes.

My first thought was that your bird was a carrion-eater also but in that part of the world, a messy fruit-eater seems very likely.

I haven't heard about the dolphin, is it in your area? I have read that albino animals have a very hard time surviving, is it an adult dolphin?

It's a couple of years old now, in a lake in Louisiana. If you google "albino dolphin" you'll see some pictures.
