Childe Hassam

Windmills, East Hampton
Old Mulford House, East Hampton, 1930

Last week, just before it closed, I went to the Childe Hassam exhibit at the Long Island Museum here in Stony Brook. Mostly etchings were on view but a few paintings as well. These two were my favorites. This was work he did late in life when he lived on the East End. I still prefer the earlier lively city scenes but I wouldn't mind having one of these on my wall.

The trail lies ahead--Blydenburgh Park

I'm looking forward to future hikes in this fine park. This picture is from early May of last year.

This is winter?

Taken a few moments ago at the front door. Temp is sixty degrees in the shade. I'm off to the woods.

Grumble, grumble

I feel like walking. I wish the paths were dry. I want to see green again. I'm tired of my winter coat. I'm tired of the world on TV. Won't some birds please start singing? When do we turn the clocks ahead? I need some aimlessness. Was that a spring peeper I just heard?

I've been tagged

Lily at Long Island Daily Photo has tagged me, and that apparently means I'm to choose the 6th photo from my 6th folder and post it and get back to her, or something. I didn't really understand the rules of the game, and my photos reside here and there in total disorder like mischievous children so ... I chose photo number 66 on my camera's memory.

This was a hike the Stony Brook Environmental Conservancy took in early May of last year. We were trudging through Blydenburgh Park in search of old Black Tupelos. The trees were leafless except for some lovely
beeches.

Thank you, Lily, for the publicity.
