The Lexington Street house, East Boston

On our trip to Boston in August 2011 George and I made a sentimental pilgrimage. This house is where our mother's mother, Mabel Swint Ewer (1880-1974), grew up. She lived there until her marriage in 1904. Her parents Delia and John Swint (He was in the bakery business) sold the house some time around 1920. I was glad to see it was still there and is being taken care of. Looks like it's been turned into a 2-family dwelling. The man on the stoop didn't understand English. I gather East Boston declined when Logan Airport went in, but is now coming back as a reasonably priced area that attracts young professonals.
