Whooo?

The college where I work has just received a 5 million dollar gift from an anonymous donor. Everyone is wondering just WHOOOO it was. We may never know.

Thanks to you, kind donor! This will help a lot of students.

Here's the story.

What a wonderful advantage for the college!! And with all the community working to provide those matching funds, it will sure attract more students. I can't help but guess that the donor might be either an Asian or Black woman ....

Unfortunately, here in FL, I just heard that the state is having to cut back on its scholarship funding program ...

Congratulations on your college's good fortune!!

Thanks, Biddie.
At least one thing is flourishing in these parts--public education.
On the same day as this announcement came word that Jim Simons has given 60 million to the State University at Stony Brook where I used to work, and where I am at this moment). He was a math prof who later went into investing in hedge funds, became enormously rich, and has given much of it away. He created the nice park where I saw the pink-footed goose. I don't know if it's true but he is said to be the 2nd wealthiest man in America, after Bill Gates.

It's nice to see proof that money doesn't always corrupt.
