Imps

My small garden is flaunting its imps trying to intimidate the pansies as they suffer in the heat.

Poor little pansies ... they really do suffer in the heat. Over in Galveston, the grounds crew at UTMB used to plant pansies around the university grounds in the Fall - they would last all Winter until the heat of Spring would cause the grounds crew to replace them with the summer displays - I always felt so bad for the gay little plants for so bravely making it thru the Winter only to be so summarily yanked and tossed come Spring.

I love the color in your "imps" - but you did get me - I was looking for some little statues of gnomes hidden there in your plants (grin).

I thought those pansies were called Johnny Jump Ups? My bigger pansies are dying too, they got really big and tall and then if you don't keep up with the watering which I failed on vacation, they are all wimpy now

I used to have a good growth of Johnny Jump Ups, for some reason this year they didn't come back. They are such cheerful little faces in the garden, aren't they?

Oh, no known gnomes at home in my garden.

K: my pansies were much bigger when I bought them. Each bud that opens is smaller than the one before. I've just fed them Miracle-Gro; maybe they'll survive.

C: Maybe the Johnny self-seeded seeds got covered by mulch?

Hmmm...I'm trying to come up with an intelligent response....nope, you're right, and I didn't even think of that. I'm a wee bit embarrassed, but it's still funny :)
