Out East: Edwards Ave.

The other sign, saying perhaps "Farm Stand", must have fallen down. All that was ahead on this country road was a guy working on his house. Better get the siding on before it snows!

The clouds were lifting rather than gathering over this symbol of the future, the windmill. Hard to take a picture facing the sun but that's where the windmill was.

One crop finished ...
... and another (cauliflower, or cabbage) coming along.

Hi - really interesting pictures - I'm assuming that these were taken on Long Island somewhere - it just doesn't seem possible that there is so much rural space on L.I. !

I like your description about the windmill (which came out really well for being that near the sun) and the future of the landscape....

Thanks, Biddie.
There is still a lot of open space on the eastern end of LI. Up until recently it has been farmed, potatoes, corn, vegetables, peaches, sod (lawns). About 20 years ago they discovered it is also a suitable climate for grape growing. Now there are several dozen vineyards and some of the wines (Pindar for one) are really pretty good. Houses are also springing up as farmers sell out to developers. That makes me sick to see. Edwards Ave is still rural; it's refreshing to drive around out there.

Lovely pictures.
The first one could serve as a Rorschach of sorts...insert what's in your heart for what's up ahead.
