Why are those birds clustered on one rock? I'll see how close I can get.
Young barn swallows
creep, creep,
shhh
Togetherness. Oh, they see me.
I've moved to a side view. Surely they're going to fly off now.
Still there. Are they waiting for momma to bring food? They flew around a bit then came right back to the same rock. Fascinating.

Excellent shots! You nailed the focus, good job :)
I wonder if they hang out there frequently?
Hee-hee, the focus nailed itself. I just set it on Normal.
I'll check every day or so. I think they were quite young even though they could fly.
My sister used to get a lot of them in her barn, it was so fun to see them flying in and out of there with mud for the nest and food for the little ones
What good shots - such an interesting behavior - curious as to where the nest might have been.
I wonder if there weren't any trees nearby and the rock was one of the very few elevated and dry places to purch.
Did you see them on the rock again?
I thought swallows made mud nests in barns, today, there were a whole bunch of swallows at the lake and they were flying into the tree's so I guess they don't all go in barns
There are other kinds of swallows besides barn swallows. Berhaps you saw cliff swallows.
Haven't had a chance to swing by and check on them.
Or tree swallows.
Oh, what delightful shots of them. I saw my first barn swallows on a delightful outing in July. I wished I had my camera. There was a high nest and the adults kept coming and going to feed the young. It seemed one was keeping an eye on us sitting below watching them. They are truly lovely birds. Maria
