Well, the book arrived, "Berkeley Heights Revisited". It's mostly photographs. I was a little disappointed to see how few were from the 1950s.
Biddie, you bought a copy, didn't you--look on page 28...isn't the "unidentified" person your mother?!!
It was good to see pictures of some Columbia School teachers (Mariner, Woods, Kashuba, Linskill, and Sup. Bothwell), the cafeteria, the gym, those custodians, and Mrs. Wrathall.
Oppy, I think you were right; the first book must have different photos. (Who's going to buy it?) Wish I could post some of these pictures; alas, copyright considerations.

Copyright? What's that? This is a private blog.
Some of those teachers names were part of my past too. Priscilla, were you there in 3rd grade? Mrs. Brophy? Do you remember "crocodile tears"?
I should have put this all in one comment. Mrs. Rogers was 2nd grade, Mrs. Brophy was 3rd, 4th grade was the first year the addition was completed and the teacher was.... Mrs Woods or Wolf? All of a sudden I couldn't remember which. 5th was Mrs. Dejohn.
Miss Opperman was the art teacher and I have a clear picture of the music teacher but I can't remember her name. I went over this territory with someone else in one of my "way back when" discussions a year or two ago.
Oh Priscilla - you sharp-eyed little darling!!! That is my mother!!
When I turned past that picture, I never even looked at the back row .. thank you for mentioning it.
I'll scan it in and put it on the blog - I was going to put Herb's 8th grade graduation up also - I'm not worried about infringements but just to be safe, I'll give credit to the author and the book.
Thanks again! I think the date is off some but I can't remember exactly the time period that she worked as a guard there on the corner of Mountain and Park. It had to have been before she got the job at Kemper in Summit.
Is the book basically just pictures? Is there any longer descriptions of history or specific people in the towns history?
Hey Op - if you haven't already made arrangements with Priscilla to see the BH Revisited book, I;ll loan you mine - this will be your finder's fee in full payment ....
You know, I might take you up on that offer! I was debating with myself about asking since it sounded to me that the book was mostly pictures and I didn't know how far back in time they went. From what Priscilla said my guess would be the first book would have older pictures and "revisited" would have later pictures.
When you get the chance I would like to see it, thank you! No rush though.
