Graduation Day... Two Views

Graduation Day is such a demanding activity for the staff at a university to prepare for .... When I was still working there at UTMB, one person from the programming staff was assigned to the duty, figuring in last minute grades for final averages and keeping up-to-date messages for the graduation proceedings out on the local internet ... it gave us a little insight into the overall semi-annual drill.

Did you have to don a cap and gown and parade with the other teaching staff?

No, graduation is optional and I opted out (It's on Sunday 6/1). The State University's is tomorrow. I have to remind myself to stay off campus then(I often use their library) because it's such a madhouse on that day.

I was in a few academic processions when I worked at other institutions, but it's really a day for kids and their parents and they are welcome to it.
