Sculpture everywhere

In May of 2009 I visited Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate on the Hudson River. I never posted any pictures before as I was overwhelmed by the place. The sculpture collection of Gov. Nelson Rockefeller situated as it is in the gracious natural setting was truly amazing.

What a beautiful estate! I love the cool dark sculptures in contrast to the soft lush landscape, how lovely.

The landscape is both natural and unnatural. The formal gardens are closely tended and trimmed, looking not the way nature would if left to itslf.Vegetation and stone--figures both realistic and abstract--complement each other.
It's too bad we weren't allowed to take pictures in the Carriage Barn, which was full of old cars, horse gear, and carriages. That was a museum in itself.
