Hawk
I wasn't even looking for birds. I was on Bates Road snapping some different views of the Caroline Church when I heard "cheeaak" and a large bird flew away across the churchyard. Hawk, maybe redtailed,I thought, then I looked up and saw the other one right above me all fluffed up. I took quite a few pix but couldn't get the head. Wonder if they will be nesting there? One sees more and more hawks everywhere. My squirrels have disappeared.

Nice spotting! We have a large population here too. I often see them alongside the road around the reservoir searching for some roadkill du jour.
I love that alert call of the hawks when I walk into the meadow. There must be some nests in the area - they seem to hunt in the middle meadow - I've found the remains of poor rabbits out there ....
