Doggone it, here's a shout-out...

.... that needed to be said if you care about the English language at all. Maureen Dowd has hit the nail on the head once again!

Let's hear a cheer for Ms. Maureen Dowd - go get 'em girl !!!!!

While I can't remember all my English grammar lessons with such clarity, my remaining, somewhat active, synapses can still pick up those too frequent abuses of our own dear language .....

HIP HIP HOOOORAY!!!! I don't do no good language myself all the time but I can hear what the wrong phrases do to mangle our language. (did I mangle it enough?)

Frankly I don't know all the rules of grammar but my mother did and from what I've learned from her I can usually detect major infractions. The subtle ones I probably won't.

Gov. Palin so mangles the language that she practices a form of dishonesty, seeming to say something important but slipping away to something else before the end of the sentence.

I noticed this also - very frustrating to listen to her ... your description of "slipping away" from an unfinished thought is right on the money.

I dislike her intensely...did you see the Katie Couric interview? She reminds me of a female version of Bush.
Blah blah blah...she throws up a smokescreen of convoluted verbiage with all the buzzwords included...but truly does not seem to have a grasp on what they mean.

While I admire this woman for the great life style that she has for herself up in Alaska and her obvious potential, I don't think that she is ready for the highly possible leadership of this country, given McCain's age, previous cancer history and the accumulative effects of all the horrible torture that he endured on his body and thusly on his potential longevity.

I also recognize the untapped and inexperienced potential in Obama but I certainly don't want him in the WH because of his too liberal and unself-recognized radical leanings. Dare I say this but if he is elected, I think that there will be awful attempts to assasinate him by any of several idiots in this country.

I am in such a quandry about my vote - I can see why Palin was such an eye-opener as VP but I wish that McCain had given greater thought to a more presidential-appearing successor if something did happen to his health....

I'm impressed with Obama's transition arrangements. He gives me confidence.

Interesting article - I had wondered in the past as to what the processes were for a pres-elect to get his cabinet, etc., organized. It never occured to me that there were actually organizations to study and help guide the process.

I have to agree - Obama is definitely showing the greater awareness of what is involved in the whole process - I do like his required adherence to an ethics code that the participants have to sign .... wonder if such a code was imposed on pres-elect organizational committees in the past .....
